Vueling, the new-generation airline, carried 8.2 million passengers during 2009, with an average seat-load factor of 73.7%-a 3.4-point increase with regards to 2008. Vueling reached the 25-millionth passenger mark in 2009, after slightly over 5 years of operations. Passenger volumes greatly increased during the year thanks to its merger with Clickair, and after the fall registered in 2008, as a consequence of the company’s fleet reduction plan.
December saw Vueling become Europe’s second most punctual airline, ahead of all of its direct competitors: according to the latest report provided by FlightStats, an Oregon-based airline, airport, and travel information company, 83.92% of Vueling flights arrived on time during the month.
