Industry leader will guide company’s healthcare event sompliance strategy
ST. LOUIS – Maritz Travel – A Maritz Global Events Company – announced that Pat Schaumann, an industry leader in healthcare compliance, will join the company as senior compliance director.
This new addition to the company represents Maritz Travel’s commitment to constant innovation and helping clients solve their biggest challenges. Today, healthcare companies face complex compliance and reporting obligations, especially related to their interactions with healthcare providers (HCPs). To help meet these emerging needs, Maritz Travel is developing solutions that streamline event reporting processes, freeing up clients to focus on their core business.
“Compliance with new regulations, like the National Physician Payment Transparency Plan: Open Payments, creates challenges in the healthcare industry,” said Steve O’Malley, division president, Maritz Travel. “This adds complexity in business processes for our clients – so we’re taking steps to alleviate the pain they are feeling.”
In her role, Schaumann will help Maritz Travel’s healthcare clients navigate a complex and challenging regulatory climate and ensure compliance of Maritz Travel’s healthcare provider event services.
Previously, Schaumann served as director of professional development – healthcare sector for Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and director of MPI MD, a community for healthcare meeting professionals. In that role, she founded MPI’s Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate program – certifying nearly 1,000 medical meeting professionals.

Schaumann has authored multiple healthcare compliance policy books, including Breaking the Code to Healthcare Compliance. She has also served in leadership roles on many industry boards and appeared on Successful Meetings Magazine’s list of the 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry four times.
Vicky is the co-founder of TravelDailyNews Media Network where she is the Editor-in Chief. She is also responsible for the daily operation and the financial policy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Tourism Business Administration from the Technical University of Athens and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales.
She has many years of both academic and industrial experience within the travel industry. She has written/edited numerous articles in various tourism magazines.
