More People Holiday in USA as Pound Improves its Performance Against the Dollar

Numbers of visitors to the US are on the rise again and experts are predicting even more holidaymakers will be making their way across the pond, after the pound showed signs of steady improvement next to the dollar.

Bookings are up for the first quarter of 2010, according to a report by the Office of Travel & Tourism Industries, part of the US Department of Commerce, which showed growth in bookings from Canada, Japan, Mexico, Germany and the UK.

Tourists from the UK are flocking to destinations throughout the US, with British tour operators reporting between a four to nine percent average increase in bookings to the country.

A spokesperson for Auto Europe, who hires cars out throughout the US, commented: `We have noticed an increase in the amount of people contacting us for car hire in the US. We provide vehicles throughout the country, but have noticed in particular that car hire Orlando wide is a hot favourite at the moment. It is always a popular choice with families wanting to travel by car throughout Florida and these numbers have grown recently, as people realise their pounds can go further thanks to the current exchange rate`.

Many holidaymakers are also taking advantage of the improved exchange rate by heading to New York for some retail therapy. Manhattan, meanwhile, is proving to be the place to be for cocktails and groups of women who wish to recreate scenes from the `Sex and the City` movies.

Another film which has breathed new life into another American destination is `The Hangover` which has been credited with attracting more visitors to Las Vegas following the popularity of the smash hit that features the glamour of Vegas as its backdrop.

Auto Europe have also reported increased interest in car hire Miami wide, with its reputation as a sunshine drenched party resort and celeb retreat making it a first port of call for celeb spotters and sun worshippers.

However, the many backdrops of America and famous natives who have featured in a multitude of movies have provided the country with millions of film reels worth of free publicity, which quite frankly, it hardly needs. America has always been a popular holiday location, but only recently has it suffered along with everyone else because of the economy, but now it looks to be getting its glitzy crown back as a number one holiday spot.
