Danish hotel chain Zleep Hotel expands into Aarhus

Zleep Hotels to open a 126 room hotel in Aarhus, Denmark.

On January 1st the Danish budget hotel chain, Zleep Hotels, is taking over Hotel Mercur on Viby Torv and convert it to the Zleep Hotel concept.

Zleep Hotels are finally opening a hotel in Aarhus, which has been high on the small chains wish list, for some time. Zleep Hotel Aarhus will welcome the first guests in January 2014.

The Danish insurance company Aros owns the building and will be collaborating with Zleep Hotels in the renovation of the seven floors. Aros will still have their offices on the eighth and ninth floors.

”We have been looking for a way to open a hotel in Aarhus for a quite a while, and when this opportunity arose the decision was actually very easy”, says CEO Peter Haaber, Zleep Hotels.

Zleep Hotels was founded in 2003 when Peter Haaber discovered that the supply of cheap hotelrooms in Denmark was very small. Since that day Zleep Hotels has grown larger and today consists of 7 hotels, with 6 in Denmark and 1 in Hamburg, Germany. The 717 room strong chain has a further two hotels in the pipeline for opening late 2014, thus bringing the room count up to 880 rooms.

“It is evident that Aarhus is an important city to the Danish business community, cultural life and also to tourism. The chance of expanding and opening hotels in all major cities in Northern Europe is something we never take of the table. However, Aarhus was a clear priority in that sense,” Peter Haaber explains.

Location is always an important factor
The hotel in southern Aarhus has easy access to the highway and to the center of Aarhus, and this balance is exactly what Zleep Hotels want to offer to their guests. The hotel should attract contractors, business people and tourists. When the hotel is completely renovated there will be 126 rooms on seven floors.
