Eden Roc at Cap Cana joins Relais & Chateaux

The Mediterranean-inspired luxury resort marks first Dominican Republic hotel to be invited to the prestigious collection.

PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Eden Roc at Cap Cana, Solaya Hotel & Resorts’ premier property, announced that it has become a member of Relais & Chateaux, a collection of the world’s finest hotels and gourmet restaurants. As the first hotel in the Dominican Republic to be named to the organization, and one of only 7 in the Caribbean, the Eden Roc at Cap Cana is the leading example of intimate elegance on the island.

“Just 11 months after opening, we are delighted and humbled to receive this accolade and to be part of the exclusive Relais & Chateaux hotels, resorts and restaurants,” said Paolo Sanavia, CEO of Solaya Hotel & Resorts. “This distinction affords Eden Roc at Cap Cana the opportunity to showcase our amenities to a global audience, including placing our restaurants and bar among the best in the world, and to champion Punta Cana as an upscale, high-end destination.”

Since opening in December 2012, Eden Roc at Cap Cana has accomplished many major milestones. First was the opening of its signature restaurant Mediterraneo helmed by Executive Chef Gianluca Re Fraschini in February 2013, which offers guests flavors from the Mediterranean through imported artisanal European ingredients blended with local Caribbean elements. The grand opening of Riva Bar occurred in May 2013 and features classic cocktails and ones with a Caribbean twist in a setting influenced by the Riva Aquarama pleasure boat that was the symbol of glamour in 1960s Monte Carlo. Most recently, in September 2013, La Palapa by Eden Roc at the Caleton Beach Club completed a full refresh that added a Sushi Bar to its terrace overlooking the ocean.

The resort, which is located just 20 minutes from the Punta Cana International Airport, is inspired by the glamorous resorts of the French and Italian Rivieras. Each of the 34 free-standing suites feature their own swimming pool and relaxation area with complimentary Wi-Fi, bespoke toiletries by Laura Tonatto, smart technology iPad to control room settings and additional in-room amenities. Eden Roc at Cap Cana also offers five restaurants and bars, access to the Caleton Beach Club and La Palapa restaurant, a 4,090-square-foot swimming pool, Solaya Spa, Koko Kid’s Club, intimate meeting space and one Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf course at Punta Espada, among other leisure activities.
