BOSTON – A historic hotel and hidden gem in downtown Boston steals the scene this fall, with a breathtaking top-to-bottom renovation that reveals the property’s timeless beauty.
Courtyard Boston Downtown first opened in 1924 as an Elks Lodge for traveling entertainers. Today, it offers a stunning combination of artfully preserved period details, along with carefully chosen contemporary features and amenities, for a guest experience that is rich in comfort, convenience and aesthetic pleasure.
The renovation design was created by Dallas-based Leo A. Daly. Original architectural features, such as Bas-relief ceilings and friezes, Doric columns, and antique crystal chandeliers, serve as a stunning framework. Meanwhile, new design elements, including black and white harlequin marble floors and Jazz Age inspired contemporary artwork, add enduring drama to the Boston downtown hotel.

One of the premier hotels in downtown Boston, Courtyard’s show-stopping lobby sets the stage with stylish furnishings and complimentary Wi-Fi. Here, guests multi-task with ease, checking email and phone messages, catching up on news, or connecting with friends over a freshly brewed Starbucks coffee or hand crafted cocktail.
Named for Elks’ Boston Lodge No. 10, the new Post No. 10 restaurant offers a sleek black bar, and comfortable seating groups. A menu of fresh favorites is available for breakfast. Classic New England noshes, as well as local draft beer, wines by the glass and cocktails, are served from 5 pm to 10 pm daily, allowing guests to enjoy a satisfying libation without having to leave the hotel.
Renovated guestrooms feature an efficient design to promote productivity and rest. Sleek furnishings and bath fixtures, extra electrical outlets, and new task lighting are among the stylish provisions now available in more than half of the hotel’s 315 guestrooms. Four remaining guestroom floors will be completed in spring 2015.
Although it is unusual for a Courtyard by Marriott hotel to have extensive meeting rooms, the hotel in downtown Boston provides 13,000 square feet of completely renovated and unique space. All meeting rooms boast exquisite architectural features, and several have large windows for natural light. The 4,320-square-foot Empire Ballroom is just up a short flight of marble stairs from the stunning lobby, and accommodates 450 guests under antique chandeliers. The oval-shaped Library Room is ideal for up to 130 guests, while the stately Executive Boardroom seats 12. Three additional conference rooms hold 100 guests.
Courtyard Boston Downtown also offers a well-equipped fitness center with suitable range of modern equipment for aerobic and weight-bearing exercise, as well as a business center and valet parking.
