The island of the Barbados was spared the full strength of the recent hurricane – `Ivan`, which affected the island as a tropical storm as the system passed south.

The Barbados Hotel & Tourism Authority (BHTA) has confirmed that the vast majority of the properties are in good shape and fully operational. Only two smaller hotels in the south east coast have suffered minimal property damage, which are `Peach & Quiet` and `Ocean Spray.`

All of the appropriate pre hurricane precautions were enabled to ensure all visitors and residents on the island were secure and safe. Sir Grantley Adams International Airport has now reopened to all in and outbound flights.

Petra Roach, Vice President for Sales & Marketing Europe said: Whilst they are still some residual effects from Ivan, Barbados has been spared any significant damage from the hurricane path
