bmi, the UK`s second largest full service scheduled airline, is expanding its self check-in network, making travelling through airports quicker and easier for passengers. Terminals have been installed at Belfast City and Manchester, with Leeds Bradford to follow shortly.
Self check-in allows business and economy passengers travelling on either a cardboard (ATB) ticket or an e-ticket to bypass queues, check-in and receive a boarding pass using simple touch screen technology. Customers can also select their seat and check-in for a return flight if returning within 24 hours, while members of bmi`s frequent flyer scheme diamond club can credit their accounts.
The airline introduced the system at London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Glasgow last year, and it proved a hit with passengers, saving time and smoothing journeys through the airport.
Adrian Parkes, bmi commercial director, said: We are always looking for new initiatives to provide an enhanced service to our customers and to ensure we remain competitive. We realise that time is valuable to our passengers and that they want as quick and easy a process as possible at every leg of their journey and this is what we are aiming for with self check-in.
We are delighted to be expanding the system to include Belfast, Manchester, and Leeds Bradford and look forward to introducing it to more airports on our network in the future.
Self check-in is available for all passengers travelling with hand luggage, with fast baggage drop desks also available at London Heathrow and Edinburgh for those wishing to check in luggage.
