The Civil Aviation Authority has called the ATOL bond of London travel organiser Startrek Travel  after the firm ceased trading.

Startrek Travel sold air package holidays and charter seat-onlys to worldwide destinations, but mainly to Ghana. The company, which held Air Travel Organiser`s Licence 4090, was based in Deptford, South East London. The company`s ATOL bond of £250,404 will be used to repatriate and refund customers and the CAA has issued the following advice:

Passengers who have made advance flight bookings for Ghana will not be able to travel and should not go to their departure airports.
However, they will be able to claim a refund from the ATOL bond if they paid by any means other than by credit card to Startrek Travel. Passengers who paid Startrek Travel by credit card should contact their credit card issuer for a refund, under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Passengers who paid for their flights in Ghana are not covered by the ATOL scheme and they should contact the Ghana High Commission.
