Italian low cost carrier Myair goes live on Galileo GDS

Galileo International, Inc., a global distribution system (GDS) and subsidiary of Cendant announced the signing of a new multi-year agreement with Myair to make its fares, schedules and inventory available through the Cendant owned Galileo GDS system worldwide.



Galileo’s GDS provides an electronic marketplace that enables airlines, hotels, car rental companies, cruise lines and other travel suppliers to sell their products to corporate and leisure travelers through 50,000 global travel agency locations accross the world.



Galileo GDS started working with low cost carriers in 2000, and the agreement with Myair confirms Galileo as the leading GDS for low cost carriers in Italy, and further strengthens Galileo’s position as a leading provider of GDS to low cost carriers worldwide.



Myair was launched in December 2004 and operates a fleet of five Airbus A320’s. Myair operates a wide network of domestic and international low cost routes, flying from the airports of Milan (Orio al Serio), Venice and Bologna. From Orio al Serio airport in Milan, Myair operates flights to Palermo, Catania, Bari, Brindisi, Naples, Bucharest and Madrid. From Venice, destinations include Bucharest, Madrid, Barcelona and Paris. From Bologna there are flights to Palermo, Catania and Brindisi and in addition, from Naples Myair.com flies to Bucharest three times a week. Travel agents worldwide can now directly book Myair.com through the Galileo GDS, with code 8I.



“With Myair offering important new routes from Italy to France, Spain and Romania, we are bringing excellent new revenue opportunities to our travel agency customers,” said Brian Conway, Supplier Services Cendant TDS EMEA. “As a parallel we offer agents the time-saving convenience of booking through their familiar Galileo desktop environment without the time and effort required to switch between the GDS and internet systems to manage the booking process.”
