MPI UK Chapter has agreed a strategic alliance with MPI New England Chapter (MPINE). The agreement is the first ‘twinning’ between a European and US chapter, and opens up information sharing opportunities including new ideas, best practice and insight into current US trends.
The twinning spawned from a challenge between former UK Chapter president Carole McKellar CMM and Chris Reagan, President of MPINE, to recruit new members. However, the interaction between the two chapters generated effective working relationships and a commitment to help each other.
MPINE approach to operational activity has already provided a model for the UK chapter to progress its plans for professional support. In recent international events there have been further opportunities for the two chapters to work together – running educational sessions and helping to train future association leaders.
The `twinning` of the two chapters was sealed with a certificate signed by both Presidents at the MPINE 25th anniversary dinner in Boston last month. Carole presented a Scottish `quaich` (drinking cup) to Chris and both shared a tipple of whisky to seal the partnership!
What started out as a challenge, became a partnership. This alliance demonstrates the power of building relationships within the meeting industry and shows how we can continue to learn from each other to achieve success, commented Carole McKellar.
