The total number of passengers flown in December 2006 with the low cost carrier Norwegian was 386,033 compared to 282,805 last year, an increase of 103,228 passengers (37 %), and 48 % increase in passenger traffic.

  • Total passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 48 %, compared to last year.

  • Total capacity (ASK) increased by 51 %, compared to last year.

  • The cabin factor was 70 %, same period last year the cabin factor was 72 %.

  • The company estimates a yield around NOK 0.70 for December 2006.

These increases in passenger traffic, production and passengers are linked to the company’s expansion and the introduction of new routes from January 2006 to December 2006, as well as adjustments in production capacity and a steady increase in passengers.

Domestic passenger traffic increased by 21 % and capacity increased by 11 %, giving a cabin factor of 74 % compared to 68 % last year. Domestic traffic has shown a positive trend considering capacity has been increased by 30 % on the routes in the southern part of Norway.

International passenger traffic increased by 68 % and capacity increased by 85 %, giving a cabin factor of 69 % down 6 pp. The cabin factor development is primarily linked to the incorporation of the company’s expansion, in particular the 11 new routes from Poland.

The company anticipates a yield reduction of 1 % compared to December 2005. The yield development is connected to reduced prices to incorporate the company’s route expansion, together with a higher share of routes with a relatively seen lower yield.

The company has in January hedged 50 % of the expected fuel consumption using forward contracts trough out Q3 2007.

Internet sales accounted for 81 % of all tickets sold in December.
