On the occasion of delivery of the two airplanes from Bavaria International Aircraft Leasing Company to Olympic, Jerry Callaghan, director of the Boeing 717 program, announced `Olympic Aviation will provide the first regularly scheduled service for the 717 outside the USA. We believe the flying public will embrace the airplane`s quiet and clean performance as well as its high comfort level as enthusiastically as travelers in the USA.`
The 717 is powered by two BR 715 engines, developed by Rolls-Royce Deutschland, which help make the 717 the quietest airplane in the 100-seat class, and the airplane also has emission levels below current limits established by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Configuration for the new aircraft is 34 seats in business class and 71 in economy.
Boeing has recorded 130 firm orders and 125 options for the new aircraft.
