As part of its ongoing commitment to developing high quality and engaging professional education opportunities, IMEX will stage a comprehensive seminar programme at Messe Frankfurt in 2006. IMEX’s free daily seminar programme will offer visitors six topical seminars delivered in German each day in collaboration with strategic partner, The German Convention Bureau.

In addition, a far-reaching series of English-language seminars led by the key industry associations will tackle issues such as community-building, measurement models and financial discipline; as well as hearing from 2012 Olympic city winners, London, on how they won the bid.

The German-language programme consistently attracts renowned speakers. Each will present expert opinion and latest findings on internationally relevant subjects such as ‘Innovation and Risk Management’, ‘Personal Motivation’ and ‘Understanding global protocols.’ In addition, The Travel Marketing Factory GmBH will hold a seminar to reveal the results of its detailed annual examination into trends and growth prospects in the German outbound travel market.

New association research project

While the IMEX seminar programmes promote industry debate, they also encourage participants to achieve personal and professional advancement through continuing education. IMEX will further enhance its reputation for educating the marketplace by supporting a new research project led by Brussels-based agency, Theraplanner.

Also supported by the ABCN (Austrian Business and Convention Network), Tallinn City Tourist Office and Convention Bureau and Maison de la France, THE PLANNER’s new research project aims to reveal how Brussels-based international associations assess and select destinations for their most influential meetings. The final data, to be published at the end of 2006, will disclose their favoured destinations, how they devise and apply selection criteria, how the internal decision-making process works and where their business sights are set for the next two to five years.

Further weight is added to the IMEX professional education offering by its New Vision seminars. Richard Lewis Communications will present ‘The Cross Cultural World Cup’ on Tuesday 30th while ‘How to implement green meetings’ will address a popular yet complex corporate social responsibility issue on Wednesday 31st. IMEX will again address the changing roles of women in the workplace with an interactive Women’s Forum debate led by Mary Casey, Vice President Strategic Account Management Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Mary Power, President and CEO of the CIC (Convention Industry Council), also on the Wednesday.

The CIC is also sponsoring the IMEX Professional Development Pavilion for 2006 and has certified all IMEX seminars for CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) certification points.
