Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Al Ain Economic Development and Tourism Promotion Authority signed a contract with George Sproule, Vice president of International Management Group, Inc (IMG) for the Study/Planning and Concept Design of Jebel Hafeet Golf Course and Club House.
Sheikh Sultan said: This project has been initiated in line with the directives of the President, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to develop this special natural site as a world class tourism destination, according to reports in the UAE`s dailies.
The agreement features the first phase of the project development, which would take place on the foot of the highest summit in UAE, Jebel Hafeet, around the watercourse known as Ghadeer bu Saleem, and surrounded by high rising hills. The study would be conducted on the bases of an assessment of the national, regional and international golf markets, site analysis and various constraints evaluation, he said. The outcome of the study will define the next steps to be undertaken within the development process of this vital project.
The project would also keep in line with the authority`s policy to maintain, Harmony and equilibrium between the modern development and the environment of the region with all its natural features and inherited cultural elements and sites, he added.
He said that the natural environment of Al Ain and its region is one of the main components, which would guarantee the best use of the resources and cultural heritage, the prevailing climatic peculiarity and the comprehensive infrastructure of the city. IMG is one of the pioneer international groups in the fields of management, operation and marketing of golf courses and they will be working in this project in association with Nick Faldo Design, one of the most famous golf course design offices worldwide.
