ABTA<.> is offering a free, independent IT Helpline service to its members through Genesys

ABTA<.> is offering a free, independent IT Helpline service to its members through Genesys – a well-known travel and technology consultancy – following a successful three month trial.

The ABTA IT helpline can be accessed Monday to Friday between 0900 hrs and 1730 hrs, and can be reached on 020 8349 0099. Members will need to quote their ABTA number.

"The use of technology is becoming an increasingly important factor in the operation of a travel business as the internet becomes a part of everyday life", says Ian Reynolds, Chief Executive of ABTA. "Agents and operators, who are experts in their own field, may not necessarily have high levels of skill in technology, and so may need specialist help. The three month trial has proved to us that there is a high demand among our members for a dedicated IT service and Genesys have proved during the trial that they can deliver a fast, reliable and valuable service."

Paul Richer, Senior Partner at Genesys said: "As well as having expertise in technological support, Genesys has a wealth of experience in the travel industry. As well as being well-equipped to help travel agents and tour operators with specific enquiries about back office systems or GDS technology supplied by Galileo, Amadeus, Worldspan and Sabre, we are more than happy to provide more general assistance with any other kind of information technology or web queries."

ABTA members have already been able to access a Computer Virus Helpline since March 2001, which also continues to operate from Monday to Friday between 0900 hrs and 1730 hrs and can be reached on 020 8350 1420. Again members need to quote their ABTA number.
