The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) announces that the Western Association of Travel Agencies (WESTA) is the newest addition to the Corporate Advisory Council (CAC). WESTA, which recently became an ASTA member, is represented by General Manager Mike Estill. WESTA was unanimously appointed to the CAC by ASTA`s Executive Committee.
ASTA is pleased to have WESTA as an ASTA member, and now also as part of the Corporate Advisory Council. We look forward to working together for the benefit of the entire travel agency community, said ASTA President and CEO Richard M. Copland, CTC.
With the recent addition of WESTA and Virtuoso, the CAC now represents a fairly complete cross-section of our industry. The potential value in having all areas of the retail travel industry speak with one voice is immeasurable, said WESTA General Manager Mike Estill. If together we can strengthen ASTA`s lobbying efforts to improve the environment for all travel agencies, the CAC will represent a very real benefit for rank and file ASTA members.
The CAC, composed of representatives of major travel agency consortia, franchise organizations and independent agencies, works with ASTA on issues of common interest to the retail travel agent community, with particular focus on legislation, government regulation and industry relations.
ASTA`s newest CAC member, WESTA, is a regional co-op based in Portland, Ore., that works to provide its members with tools to manage their businesses pro-actively and profitably.
