IACA fully supports the legal challenge introduced by IATA to the UK Court of Justice.

The International Air Carrier Association (IACA) fully supports the legal challenge introduced by International Air Transport Association (IATA) to the UK Court of Justice against the new EU Regulation on passenger compensation.

IACA airlines believe that the new legislation is fundamentally flawed, in particular provisions obliging airlines to compensate for circumstances beyond their control including weather and air traffic control.

Moreover, the current text is open to a range of interpretations and will pave the way for disputes between passengers, airport and airline staff.

IACA endorses the legal arguments of the IATA claim and hopes it will result in just and undisputable passenger rights as both consumers and airlines need legal clarity.
