NBTA names Boston as 2007 convention site

Following the excitement of the World Series championship coming to Boston last week, the National Business Travel Association

Following the excitement of the World Series championship coming to Boston last week, the National Business Travel Association (NBTA) gave Boston another reason to celebrate by officially awarding its 2007 Convention & Trade Show to the city. NBTA made the announcement official at a press conference at the newly completed Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC).

NBTA Executive Director & COO, Bill Connors, CTC, said, “NBTA’s 2004 Convention & Trade Show in Orlando generated an estimated $5.8 million in economic activity, and we hope to have an even greater economic impact on Boston in 2007.”

Patrick Moscaritolo, president and CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, accepted the awarding of the bid for Boston and stated, “NBTA’s convention is particularly important for Boston, not just for the 5,000-plus attendees and the economic impact they will have here in 2007, but because they are the nation’s leading corporate travel buyers and planners. The positive impact of their visit here will benefit Boston for years to come.”

Members of the New England chapter of NBTA, the New England Business Travel Association (NEBTA), have been working with Boston officials, hoteliers and other local travel service providers for many years to make this bid a reality, according to NEBTA President, Lorraine Leavitt. More than 30 local travel industry officials were on hand for the official presentation at the new BCEC.
