Nelson given additional assignment with IACVB Foundation

Maura M. Nelson, vice president of marketing and communications for the International Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus (IACVB), has been given the additional responsibility of Executive Director for the IACVB Foundation.

IACVB Foundation Board President Deborah Archer made the announcement last month at the Foundation Board of Trustees meeting in Chicago.

After the success of our last Capital Campaign, the Foundation is poised for significant growth and expansion, explained Archer. The addition of an executive director will help propel our plans forward. Maura brings our Foundation a wealth of experience and expertise in strategic management and development.

Nelson joined IACVB in October 2002 as its vice president of marketing and communications. She has more than 15 years of experience in the field of communications & marketing, and a master`s degree in public communication. Before IACVB, she served as vice president of marketing and communications at the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). Before AH&LA, she served as national director of public relations for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Her background also includes hotel and agency public relations and marketing experience.

I`m honored and privileged to accept this appointment and am dedicated to assisting the Foundation reach its highest goals yet, remarked Nelson.

In addition to her workplace experience, Nelson is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Association Executives, the Public Relations Society of America, and the Society of American Travel Writers. She resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband and two young sons….
