The International Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus (IACVB<.>) has named Maura M. Nelson to be the association`s vice president of marketing & communications, effective today, 15 October. Nelson will be responsible for all marketing and communications functions of the association, including many key strategic partnerships.



Maura has the energy, creativity, and strategic ability to assist and support our members in the area of marketing and communications, said IACVB President & CEO Michael Gehrisch. Moreover, Maura`s extensive experience in the hospitality industry complements our organization perfectly, he added.



Nelson has more than 15 years of experience in the field of communications & marketing, and a master`s degree in public communications. Her most recent post was at the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) as vice president of marketing and communications. Before AH&LA, she served as national director of public relations for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Her background also includes hotel and agency public relations and marketing experience.



In addition to her workplace experience, Nelson is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Association Executives, the Public Relations Society of America, and the Society of American Travel Writers. She resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband and two young sons.
