Carries 70% more passengers compared to August last year. Boosts passenger figures by 37% in comparison to pre-pandemic August 2019.

LARNACA, CYPRUS – Cyprus Airways has announced outstanding performance for August 2023, a month in which the airline transported a total of 79,804 passengers. This remarkable achievement marks a 71% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same month in the previous year (August ’22: 46,800).

In August the Cypriot flag carrier operated a total of 572 scheduled flights (August ’22: 321 flights) and achieved a load factor of 81%. In a significant comparison with August 2019, which serves as a key benchmark prior to the pandemic, Cyprus Airways registered a substantial 37% growth in passenger volume on its scheduled services and operated 27% more flights.

Christos Limnatitis, Chief Commercial Officer of Cyprus Airways, expressed his satisfaction with the results, stating, “August 2023 stands out as our busiest month in the last five years, during which we successfully served nearly 80,000 passengers. With this performance and our preliminary figures for September, we are on track to carry over 500,000 passengers by the end of this year.”

“It is truly rewarding to witness our achievements in just over a year, during which we have expanded our network to 19 destinations, increased our weekly frequencies to 60 flights, doubled our aircraft fleet and increased our number of employees. We remain steadfast on our promise to sustain growth and build on the momentum we initiated last year. Our commitment to the island’s tourism industry is as strong as ever,” added Paul Sies, CEO of the airline.

Cyprus Airways stands as the premier choice for travellers, offering an exciting range of destinations and frequencies at competitive fares, but also a remarkable new business class product. The all new A220 aircraft that recently were added to the fleet have been received very well by the passengers who recognise the upgrade in the Economy product and the unique Business Class product.
