The first day saw 11 passengers travelling on Gulf Air to Australia and the UK, using the e-ticket facility. The Gulf Air e-ticket launch has also generated interest among several travellers, who made telephone enquiries as well.

“We have been working for a few months on this project and are glad to see the success of e-ticket launch,” says Gulf Air Head of IT Business Development Jamal Qambar.

“For Gulf Air, it is another proof of excellent teamwork, individual commitment and accountability and I am sure the same spirit will continue while implementing e-ticketing for the rest of our network.”

E-ticketing is the latest offer from Gulf Air to its valued customers towards making their travel plans less cumbersome and more efficient. No more visits to Gulf Air ticket offices or a travel agent. e-ticketing is a more secure form of ticketing that eliminates traditional paper tickets, which can be stolen, lost or simply forgotten. E-ticket passengers can check in faster by producing the e-ticket print out and an appropriate ID.

Gulf Air e-ticketing is currently available for passengers traveling on any Gulf Air flight between Bahrain, London, Singapore and Sydney and will be extended soon across the entire Gulf Air network in a phased manner. However, it will be completed by the end of 2007, complying with the IATA deadline.
