Etihad Airways has launched its new service between Abu Dhabi and Muscat, with flight EY 707 departing from the UAE. A delegation of senior Etihad management and Omani Embassy officials celebrated the launch at Abu Dhabi International Airport, before boarding the maiden flight to Muscat.
On arrival in Oman, the delegation attended a special function along with officials from the Omani Government, Department of Civil Aviation, business community and tourism industry at Muscat`s Seeb International Airport.
“It is a tremendous privilege to be launching this new service between Muscat and Abu Dhabi. We believe the new route will attract leisure travellers who are looking for short breaks within the southern Gulf, as well as business customers, friends and relatives travelling between the UAE and Oman,” said Khaled Al Mehairbi, Etihad’s VP Corporate Affairs, speaking at the launch of the new flight.
“The UAE and Oman share a very unique bond and this new route from Etihad Airways will enable us to enhance that further. This daily service will provide the perfect platform for new business and cultural ties to grow between the two countries,” said Ali Mohammed Said Al Farsi – Counsellor at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman.
The national airline of the United Arab Emirates will operate one its new purpose-built Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the new daily service between the Oman and the UAE.
