The Abu Dhabi-based premier private jet charter service, Royal Jet, plans to acquire two more aircraft by 2005. Royal Jet is also planning more agreements with airlines after the success of the recent Gulf Air operation between Abu Dhabi and Geneva.

We plan to add a new Gulfstream aircraft by 2004 and a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) in 2005. We will then have a fleet of five aircraft which is big for such a company, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Civil Aviation told English daily, Gulf News. The investment will be about $29 million for each aircraft. Royal Jet is expanding its fleet due to fast and unexpected business growth, he added.

Royal Jet announced the arrival of the third aircraft, a new Gulfstream. Royal Jet received its first aircraft, the BBJ, last May and its first Gulfstream last month. Within the past four months, Royal Jet has not achieved but exceeded its business target, he said. Each aircraft of Royal Jet flies more than 100 hours per month on average. We are budgeting for 250 hours per month and expect the aircraft to fly full force. We see significant growth in the coming months. Currently, 60 per cent of flights cater to passengers and the remaining 40 per cent are medical evacuation flights. This summer Royal Jet started flights to Geneva under a Gulf Air flight number on a weekly basis.

This was very successful and further negotiations are in progress with Gulf Air and other airlines for similar shuttle agreements and special Umrah and Haj flights. Royal Jet is also finalising a number of block charter agreements ranging from 100 to 300 hours per year with several high-end travel agents and individual customers.
