Why New Zealand should be among your top travel destinations in 2023

Articles and videos do not do justice to all the beauty New Zealand has to offer, as nothing beats the live experience.

Mesmerizing nature, rich Maori culture, architecture, food, and a plethora of entertainment options put New Zealand among the top destinations for tourists worldwide.

If you haven’t visited yet, we bring you four reasons to put Aotearoa on your bucket list this year. Don’t be surprised if you start looking for affordable flights straight away.

Winter Months in Napier, Hawke Bay
Napier, New Zealand, is an ideal option for those looking to spend a summer vacation exploring. The region is breathtaking year-round, but if you can choose, pick dates from the beginning of June to the end of August. The area is famous for its culinary scene and as a place to learn more about the Maori culture, history, and tradition.

If you like architecture and design—especially Art Deco—there’s no doubt you’ll fall in love with the region. The combination of Art Deco, Spanish Mission style with Maori-inspired ornaments is what people first think of upon mentioning Napier.

As for the food, Napier’s chefs have brought the process of food preparation to perfection. Aside from original recipes, they developed a unique methodology that makes even everyday meals pure pieces of art.

Although we said when to consider visiting Napier, we can’t miss mentioning the Art Deco weekend that takes place in February. Again, when you are an art enthusiast, any time of the year is a good time to visit this architectural treasure.

Late Winter in Auckland
Now we can say Auckland is really for everyone’s taste. Whether you are more of a nature lover or like to explore the nightlife and culinary scene, Auckland has it all covered.

Suppose you want to spend time outdoors. In that case, we suggest black sand and gold sand beaches and hiking trails (many of which are all described as wild.). Auckland is also famous for its rainforests and volcanoes. Finally, we must not forget the city’s main symbols, the Manukau Harbor and the Waitemata Harbor.

However, as mentioned at the beginning, Auckland is an excellent destination for people who want to party, enjoy exquisite meals, drink cocktails, and have fun overall. What’s even more interesting is the city’s casino scene. SkyCity Casino is a household name in Auckland’s gambling space. Aside from visiting a physical establishment, you can also experience the SkyCity casino in NZ online. As a player, you will be thrilled to see numerous famous slot titles, roulette wheels, poker, blackjack, and baccarat tables, and live game option. You will be greeted as if you were coming to any of the land-based SkiCity establishments, with various online bonuses as an additional benefit.

So if we were to share one piece of advice for a stress-free and joyful time in Auckland, it would be to explore the options based on your preferences, make a list of must-visit locations, and stick to the plan as much as possible. Finally, don’t let FOMO eat you inside out; enjoy.

Spring in the Coromandel Peninsula
In Northern New Zealand, the Coromandel Peninsula is for those who want to take time off from fast city life. We suggest visiting in spring, somewhere between September and November.

The area is a heaven on earth if you seek tranquillity. You can come by air; it’s a half-hour flight from Auckland to Whitianga. The other option is a road trip (our recommendation). It’s less than a two-hour drive and the scenery you’ll witness makes it worth it.

The Coromandel Peninsula meets everyone’s taste, and by everyone, we mean people who like to spend time in nature and soak up everything Mother Earth has to offer us. You can go for long walks or organize a beach day to lay on golden sand. But if you are more of an adventurous type, consider trying skydiving or kayaking. Yes, we almost forgot. The Coromandel Peninsula allows visitors to dig hot water pools.

Autumn in Christchurch
We’ll dare to describe Christchurch as Phoenix rising from the ashes. The city has gone through four horrific earthquakes in just 12 months. Such disasters leave no one indifferent, and it takes time for everyone and everything to recover.

A decade later, the city looks like any other city in the world, with beautiful buildings, shopping malls, and neighbourhoods. Still, Christchurch is a true reminder of how people, when united, can build everything from the ground up.

Fall is for visiting this remarkable city. Anywhere between March and May is great. As for tourist attractions, you can go for a gondola ride and enjoy the beauty of the city’s old and new areas. Additionally, visit any of the Botanical Gardens with some of the tallest and oldest trees in New Zealand.

Articles and videos do not do justice to all the beauty New Zealand has to offer, as nothing beats the live experience. But if you have wondered whether New Zealand is as good as it sounds, we hope our text removed at least some suspicions, showing (once again) how amazing this country is.
