Gerard Greene YOTEL brings affordable luxury

Mr Gerard Greene, CEO of YOTEL with the occasion of the launching of the first YOTEL in UK, analyzes in TravelDailyNews how this new product will mark the hotel industry.

TravelDailyNews: What are your expectations from launching YOTEL?

Gerard Greene: We expect to be able to finally offer a luxury product at affordable prices to hotel guests around the world. I think for too long the majority of the industry throughout the world has offered poor value for money to guests.

TDN: Did you conduct research before launching this new hotel concept? What were the findings?

G. G.: We did not carry out any traditional research. Both Simon and I knew that a luxury product at affordable prices was likely to be in major demand throughout the world. Since launching our prototype there has been a phenomenal amount of interest and the feedback has been nothing but good.

TDN: Based on what criteria are you launching the first YOTEL in UK? Why did you choose Dubai for the first presentation?

G. G.: We launched the first YOTEL in the UK because we are from the UK and hence it was more convenient for us to build the first projects there. Dubai is not in fact the first city outside the UK where we’re presenting the prototype, but we see the region as a major growth area for us.

TDN: What are the advantages and disadvantages of the product regarding the global market?

G. G.: We offer a luxury product at affordable prices. In addition, we have designed a concept that can be developed in difficult locations such as inside airport terminals and in dense city sites. The applications for YOTEL are enormous across the globe. I will leave you to decide on the disadvantages of our product.
