With the opening of Le Meridien Tower, the group’s 70-room boutique hotel, country manager Hannes Yaghi is predicting a new era in the Kuwait hospitality sector.

He said that while hotels were once again booming in the state of Kuwait, and there had been a welcome expansion of both international and local names in the sector, Le Meridien Tower is the first property to introduce many cutting-edge concepts that are revolutionising the world of travel.

“The latest technology, innovative room design and unparalleled service standards are just a few of the promises set out for Le Meridien Tower,” he said. “And as the first Art+Tech design hotel for Le Meridien in the region, it will be a showcase for both Kuwait and our partners, the A’amal Holding Group.”

As a concept, Art+Tech has been designed to be different from the standard hotel room, while focusing on the three main elements of bed, bathroom and technology.

The concept is also extended in to public areas of Art+Tech properties, from restaurants to meeting rooms, to create a contemporary, clutter-free environment while emphasising all functions of service demanded by the frequent traveller.

“This is a revolution in hotel terms, and one that gives our customers in Kuwait a real choice in terms of their accommodation requirements,” said Yaghi. “Simply put, there is nothing similar in the market, but we are convinced that the design concept will be an instant success – as it has in other markets worldwide.”

He confirmed that the introduction of Art+Tech rooms in cities such as London had served to raise average room yields as customers chose to pay more for the new look rooms.

“By giving the customer the essentials they require, such as an adjustable bed featuring exquisite linens and duvets, free-standing shower unit with body jets, and a 32-inch interactive LCD plasma television screen plus high-speed ISDN and modem connections, we can charge an appropriate value-added rate.”

Already, hotel developers in prestigious multi-function projects worldwide are choosing Art+Tech, including the Asian Cyberport in Hong Kong and the Airrail Centre in Frankfurt.

Yaghi added: “Le Meridien is unique in launching Art+Tech as the hotel of the future showcasing the latest in design and technology developments. Combined with the strength of our global network and marketing, and already high service standards, there is no doubt that this is a winning formula in today’s highly competitive hospitality industry.”

For the customer, Le Meridien Tower offers both style and substance, with rooms incorporating the power shower, large-screen LCD plasma TV, the finest linens and local artworks, as well as the ultimate in comfortable bedding, plus high-speed ISDN standard connections.

In addition, the hotel features wireless access throughout; a stylish open-kitchen restaurant; pool and health club; dedicated Guest Service manager, and complimentary airport transfers.

Yaghi commented: “Le Meridien’s Art+Tech design concept is still being rolled out in cities around the world and we are delighted that Kuwait has been chosen as the location of the first of these properties in the Gulf region.

No doubt many visitors will come just to see what all the fuss is about, but we know they will return again and again to enjoy the finest traditions of the hotel of tomorrow – good design, exemplary service and technology at their fingertips.”
