MΙΑΜΙ, FL – Bahia Principe Hotels and Resorts announce the reopening of Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, located in the renowned beachfront destination of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. After nearly 8 months and a 35-million-dollar investment, the newly reimagined property draws inspiration from the indigenous people of the Caribbean, the Taíno, delivering a revitalized and culturally immersive experience to its guests. Embracing the ‘Taino Soul’ concept guests can enjoy new culinary offerings, upscale amenities, and new room categories starting December 2023.

Cultural Transformation
The ‘Taino Soul’ concept is weaved throughout the renovated property. Notably, the resort’s grounds feature a distinctive tribute to the traditional Taíno sport of “batú.” This ancient game, played within a rectangular space enclosed by rocks, is reimagined through the incorporation of stone elements and rugged textures, enriching the design with historical significance. Within this thoughtful design, the lobby and buffet areas serve as a symbolic representation of the home of the cacique (referring to the local leader of an indigenous group). The living and entertainment spaces are designed for the nitaínos, the nobility and warriors, while the outdoor areas and theater are dedicated to the culture, embodying the spirit of the bohiques, who held the roles of priests and healers. While the restaurants give nod to the naborías, who were skilled fishermen, farmers, and artisans. In addition, the natural landscape, abundant flora, and vibrant fauna are all embraced and seamlessly integrated into the overall experience. This grand reopening signifies a significant milestone for both the resort and its visitors, underscoring a commitment to crafting indelible memories and fostering a profound connection with the rich Taino culture.
