SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA – Following the success and popularity of Basecamp South Lake Tahoe, Basecamp Hotels announce two brand new hotel properties in Tahoe City, CA and Boulder, CO. These picturesque locations perfectly embody the Basecamp brand mission to take under-appreciated buildings in great destinations and infuse them with soul, creating a high quality, yet affordable boutique hotel experience. Basecamp Tahoe City opened June 1, while Basecamp Boulder opens June 15.
Basecamp Tahoe City (formerly the Aviva Inn) is a fully renovated 24-room boutique hotel, just steps from the heart of downtown Tahoe City, and just a 3-minute walk to set a paddleboard in the lake. Any day of the year, adventurers can choose from more than 100 activities within 10 miles of the hotel, from mountain biking the Tahoe Rim Trail, golfing at Brockway, skiing Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, to paddle boarding into secluded beaches and inlets around the lake. There is no better location from which to explore Tahoe.
Basecamp Tahoe City's signature room is The Great Indoors (Family Vacation) room, which has a separate "Little Explorer's Basecamp" featuring a bunk bed, walls clad in canvas and pockets for every little explorer's gear while parents sleep in an adjoining room in a cozy tent. From the Sun Room and lake-view deck to the lobby and patio, there is no shortage of places to relax and take in the fresh mountain air.
The lobby features a double-sided fireplace, a lounge area and communal dining space to enjoy a thoughtfully selected craft beer. The hotel also houses an intimate lobby bar and community eatery featuring a complimentary continental breakfast, as well as a seasonal communal dinner menu featuring mountain classics from around the world. Gourmet hot chocolates including Venezuelan Spiced Chocolate and our signature Basecamp Hot Chocolate (think fireside s'mores in a mug) are also available.
Basecamp Boulder (formerly the Quality Inn Boulder Creek) is a fully renovated 49-room boutique hotel, located in the heart of the city on the edge of the University of Colorado (CU) campus and just a short walk from Pearl Street Mall. Endless outdoor activities are all close by, including biking up the Boulder Creek path, hiking through Chautauqua Park, skiing at Eldora Mountain Ski Resort or fly-fishing in Boulder Creek.

The hotel's signature room is the Great Indoors Plains room, which features sunken beds in a mountain-scape setting, with a faux-fire pit and camping chairs, perfect for families or groups of up to 4 people to sleep under the "stars" at the edge of the Flat Irons, like the westward wagon trails would have done in the 1840's. Basecamp Boulder rooms also feature sustainable beetle kill pine furniture, providing the perfect satellite "office."
The hotel lounge offers a great place for guests to relax, play games and boulder in a fun indoor/"outdoor" space. With its full climbing wall, fireplace and artificial lawn, guests can enjoy all the pleasures of a relaxing outdoor experience while staying warm inside. Add the hotel's state of the art A/V equipment, and the lounge becomes an ideal setting for creative and team building meetings.
Guests who enjoy a great workout can literally run, walk or bike from the property's back door, take an indoor spin class on a Peloton bike, or check out an iPad from the front desk and participate in a series of YogaGlow classes. The hotel deck is the perfect space to stretch out and catch up on emails, while the 12-person spa and sauna provides the ideal recovery zone to soothe sore muscles after a long day of adventures.
The cozy lobby cafe features meals throughout the day, including a delicious breakfast, unique mid-day snacks including maple bacon popcorn and pretzel bites with beer cheese and dinner options including Basecamp Brisket Chili with Bread, organic Tomato Bisque with Grilled Cheese, and Empanadas. Later this year, Basecamp Boulder will be serving an assortment of the local craft beers that make Boulder so unique.
Guestrooms in all Basecamp hotels feature the "Basecamp Bed," with a custom-made four-star quality mattress, 300 thread count sheets and hypoallergenic comforters to ensure explorers get a restful night's sleep.
