Bobby Genovese's BG Capital Group acquires landmark Ocala Motel

The 50-room motel will feature crisp, top-of-the-line furnishings and linens that combine to create a high end Palm Beach vibe and unique guest experience.

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS – Adding to a growing portfolio of restored Ocala, Florida recreation and hospitality landmarks, Bobby Genovese‘s BG Capital Group has finalized purchase of the Sun Plaza Motel, which will be re-launched as the area’s premier upscale boutique hotel when completed in March 2015.

Located at 5461 East Silver Springs Boulevard across from the entrance to Silver Springs State Park and Wild Waters Water Park – which BG Capital Group became official concessionaire for last year – the 50-room motel will feature crisp, top-of-the-line furnishings and linens that combine to create a high end Palm Beach vibe and unique guest experience. Special packages will be available in partnership with Silver Springs State Park and Wild Waters Water Park to give visitors a complete experience of the area’s unique offerings. In addition to providing luxury accommodations for park guests, the motel will be available for weddings and special events.

Earlier this year BG Capital Group Limited acquired a 50-percent interest in the Cowboy Saloon, downtown Ocala’s most sophisticated and largest nightclub and gathering spot. The massive 25,000 square-foot entertainment complex includes The Coliseum, a Miami-style nightclub and lounge and The Rock House lounge and grill, which will host the nation’s top music talent in a series of year-round concerts. Other key acquisitions and renovation projects include; BG Downtown, Ocala’s most sophisticated cocktail lounge and gathering spot; the newly-created Ocala Polo Club located in the Florida Horse Park, which will feature polo lessons and polo teams; and the BG Ocala Civic Center, formerly the Ocala Entertainment Complex, that is being redeveloped as a 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Convention Center complex in partnership with the local VCB, TDC, and Chamber and Economic Partnership for local groups and business to host events, including championship tournaments and sporting events, indoor concerts and shows, and more.

“We are thrilled and honored to be a major force in this extraordinary community, which is the perfect complement to our hospitality and philanthropic interests, and to be making a contribution in restoring one of the most beautiful regions in north central Florida,” said Genovese. “It is an honor and a privilege to give these one-of-a-kind landmarks new life.”
