Individual investors have pumped in Dh8 billion in 20 new hotels that are under construction in Dubai, said Khalid A. bin Sulayem, director general of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).



These will add more attractions to the 272 existing hotels in the city`s hospitality industry with a capacity of 23,170 room nights, according to the Gulf News. Meanwhile, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation and chairman of Emirates, yesterday officially opened two trade exhibitions- the Hotel Show and Office Exhibition at Airport Expo Dubai, reports in the UAE`s dailie said. About 199 exhibitors from 24 countries are displaying a huge range of products and services vital to the day-to-day running of any hotel.



The hotel supply sector is expected to benefit from the exhibition which showcases a wide range of products and services including air conditioning, audio visual, video conferencing and sound systems, bathroom supplies and bed linen, building materials, cutlery and crockery, carpeting and curtains, computer hardware and software, fitness, spa and pool equipment, buses, vans and limousines, landscaping services, management and reservations systems, telecommunications systems, uniforms, and other products and services vital to a hotel`s day-to-day operations. Many of the products on display are being given their Middle East debut.
