Tourism to the Middle East is growing faster than any other area of the world. Given the region’s popular new destinations, emerging new markets and strong intra-Arab travel, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce plans to strengthen brand presence in the Middle East with three additional properties. The company has entered into agreements to manage The Fairmont Cairo, Nile City, The Fairmont Palm Hotel & Resort in Dubai and The Fairmont Abu Dhabi Resort & Villas, all scheduled to open in 2006.

The Fairmont Cairo

The Fairmont Cairo, a 552-room luxury hotel in central Cairo, will be located on a prime site overlooking the Nile, just 30-minutes from the Sphinx and great Pyramids at Giza. The hotel will form the third tower in the Nile City complex, one of the city’s most prestigious office and retail projects with approximately 1,000,000 sq. ft. of office space, 120,000 sq. ft. of retail space, a cineplex and restaurants in two existing 34-storey towers. The Fairmont Cairo will include four restaurants, four bars and lounges, a business centre and meeting space. A prized 24th floor rooftop location overlooking the Nile and the Pyramids will showcase one of these restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool, a whirlpool and outdoor function area.

The Fairmont Palm Hotel & Resort

The Fairmont Palm Hotel & Resort will include a 300-room luxury resort and 460 vacation ownership residences situated on Dubai’s The Palm, Jumeirah an extensive development on the Arabian Gulf. The Palm project includes The Palm, Jumeirah and The Palm, Jebel Ali, two manmade islands built in the shape of palm trees, designed to enhance Dubai’s position as a premier global tourist destination. Each island will feature hotels, marinas, residential, leisure and entertainment facilities.

The entire Fairmont component will be located on the prime southwest side of The Palm, Jumeirah’s trunk portion, in close proximity to the island’s core features. This resort will feature extensive meeting space, outdoor leisure facilities including a beach club and beach restaurant, a pool complex, a children’s activity centre, a 15,000 sq. ft. Willow Stream spa and variety of internationally themed dining facilities. Lush gardens and over 1,500 ft. of beachfront will give The Fairmont Palm Hotel & Resort the feel of a seaside oasis. This will be the brand’s second property in Dubai, joining the very successful, city centre Fairmont Dubai, opened in 2002.

The Fairmont Abu Dhabi Resort & Villas

The Fairmont Abu Dhabi Resort & Villas will be located on the city’s breakwater island development, overlooking the famed Abu Dhabi Corniche. Destined to become the focal point for tourism and recreation in Abu Dhabi, this area features an international marina and the capital’s largest shopping centre, the Marina Mall.

Modelled on a traditional Arabian palace, this urban resort will feature 265 guestrooms including Fairmont Gold, the brand’s exclusive “hotel within a hotel” product. There will be a full complement of event facilities, with combined indoor and outdoor function space totalling 60,000 sq. ft. Extensive dining options will include seven restaurants and bars, with twelve additional restaurants and cafes in the adjacent Fairmont Restaurant Promenade. The resort will feature a Willow Stream spa, a 10,000 sq. ft. swimming pool complex with a special children’s section, a regulation FIFA football pitch and a private sand beach in a secluded cove. A network of seawater canals will connect the various facilities and guests will travel among them in specially designed Arabic boats called shashas. There are also plans to build 50, one-, two- and three-bedroom villas as part of the resort.
