The Radisson SAS<.> Montfleury Hotel in Cannes is the first Radisson SAS Hotel to have successfully converted to run with the Euro as its operating currency.

This major change took place during the nights of December 12th and 13th, 2000. For four hours, the front office staff had to revert to traditional manual working methods, whilst the different electronic systems were converted by the hotel company`s highly trained IT team.

The conversion included both the reservation delivery chain from the GDS systems via Curtis-C, and the Radisson Reservation System into Harmony, as well as other frontline systems such as point-of-sale, electronic minibar, etc. Now, customers can see all prices stated in Euro. In addition to the Euro amount, restaurant bills and hotel folios also state the total amount in French francs.

The conversion went very smoothly, and feedback from guests and staff has been very positive said Yann Gillet, Financial Controller at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Cannes. He continued: As a hotel, we now do all our transactions in Euro only. Guests, however, have the choice of making their payments either in Euro or in the local currency.

Throughout the next twelve months, Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts expects to convert another 40 of its properties to run with Euro as their operating currency. Two teams of highly trained IT personnel and experienced staff will spend a week at each hotel to carry out the conversion.
