Island Hospitality unveils $5m. renovation and new flag in prime D.C. neighborhood

Veteran GM and award-winning DOS appointed to lead Residence Inn by Marriott Washington DC/Foggy Bottom.

PALM BEACH, FLA – Officials of Island Hospitality Management, LLC, one of the nation’s largest hotel management companies, announced the completion of a $5 million renovation and the conversion of the Washington Inn Guest Suites to the Residence Inn by Marriott Washington D.C./Foggy Bottom. The 103-suite hotel, formerly a DoubleTree by Hilton, is the only branded hotel in the prestigious, historic neighborhood.

“This hotel has the enviable position of being located in a quaint, historic neighborhood and is the only branded, extended stay hotel within easy walking distance to the World Bank, four embassies, the Kennedy Center and the State Department,” said Tim Walker, president and CEO of Island. “Residence Inn by Marriott long ago established the benchmark for extended stay hotels, and with this comprehensive renovation, the newest member of the family sets a new standard for this bellwether brand.”

The renovation included an expanded lobby to accommodate the Residence Inn’s complimentary breakfast, evening social hours and mid-week dinners and an enlarged fitness center. The 700-square foot guest suites (nearly double the size of most extended stay hotel rooms) were completely renovated, including new granite bathrooms, full kitchens, new furnishings and soft goods.

“There is no other hotel in this part of the city providing the size and quality of accommodation, or the value added amenities, that this Residence Inn offers,” said Jeff Waldt, senior vice president sales and marketing. “This exceptional product, coupled with the experienced leadership of General Manager Jess Conlin and Director of Sales Rachel Antosh, will assure its long term success. We thoroughly researched the marketplace and are confident that the flag change to the Residence Inn by Marriott brand, combined with the multi-million dollar renovation that upgraded virtually every aspect of the hotel, best meets the needs and demands of today’s business and leisure travelers.”

The pet friendly Residence Inn by Marriot Washington D.C./Foggy Bottom is located at 801 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, D.C. The hotel features a roof-top pool, expanded fitness facility, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout and is ideally situated for visitors to Georgetown University and George Washington Hospital, as well as numerous embassies, the World Bank, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the United States Department of State. A metro station is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel, giving visitors easy access to everything the nation’s capital has to offer.
