LodgeNet continues collaboration with Department of Homeland Security

LodgeNet is continuing to help its hotel partners broadcast DHS produced video spots encouraging vigilance and pro-active measures against suspicious activities.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – LodgeNet Interactive Corporation, provider of interactive media and connectivity services to hospitality and healthcare businesses and the consumers they serve, today provided an update on their collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) in support of an ongoing public awareness campaign called “If You See Something, Say Something.”

Now in its second year of partnership with DHS and the AH&LA, LodgeNet is continuing to help its hotel partners broadcast DHS produced video spots encouraging vigilance and pro-active measures against suspicious activities. The videos are shown on a free promotional and information channel that appears when the guest room TV is turned on.

“Since November 2011, LodgeNet TV systems in more than 6,000 hotels have been airing public service announcements designed to help make travel safer across the U.S.,” said Frank Elsenbast, Interim Co-CEO for LodgeNet. “With 98% of all hotel guests turning on the TV during their stay, our TV systems represent a highly utilized and broadly distributed platform that is helping DHS reach a 500-million traveler universe with messages of national significance.”

“Reaching millions of guests that stay at hotels and motels each year is a step in engaging partners in our Homeland Security efforts,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. “When we each do our part, we keep our nation safe, one hometown at a time.”

“If You See Something, Say Something” is a nationwide campaign designed to engage the public and key frontline employees to identify and report indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime to the proper law enforcement authorities.
