New CEO to Nordic hotel operator

For more than 20 years, Per Denker Sorensen has had management positions in the hospitality industry’s largest companies in the Nordics.

From Danish hotel brand in growth to new Nordic hotel operator with international focus. Per Denker Sorensen has been appointed CEO of Core Hospitality. He will be leading Core Hospitality, which operates Hotel Marina and Quality Airport Hotel Dan in Copenhagen and have two Moxy Hotels in the pipeline. The promotion occurs after Deutsche Hospitality invests in the Danish brand, Zleep Hotels.

Maintaining operations in focus
For more than 20 years, Per Denker Sorensen has had management positions in the hospitality industry’s largest companies in the Nordics. In the past few years, Per has been the COO of the Danish hotel chain, Zleep Hotels, where he helped develop the current efficient operational model. Per will now develop the young hotel group, Core Hospitality, which was established by the sister company, Zleep Hotels. The two companies are now being separated further due to Deutsche Hospitality’s investment in Zleep Hotels. Contrary to most competitors in the Nordics, Core Hospitality has an international focus and will thus add exciting brands to the market, among which is Moxy Hotels in Copenhagen in just a few months.

“It is quite sad to be leaving Zleep and the many wonderful and talented colleagues, who have contributed to the development of the successful company that it is today. At the same time, I look forward to focusing on the tasks ahead and the challenges that await at Core Hospitality. It is going to be an exciting journey, and I am both proud and humble to be entrusted with this opportunity,” says Per Denker Sorensen, CEO of Core Hospitality.

International brands will improve Copenhagen’s hotel market
Core Hospitality is a so-called “white label brand”, meaning the organization operates hotels which it franchises international brands for. This approach gives Core Hospitality immense possibilities for developing hotel properties with access to many of the world’s largest hotel organizations’ brands. This affords the company the opportunity to add new hotel products to Copenhagen and the rest of the Nordics, thus increasing marketing awareness internationally. The two existing hotels that are operated by Core Hospitality will be developed while Moxy hotels is currently being built in Copenhagen due to open in March. Per Denker Sorensen thus has exciting challenges ahead of him, such as changing cultures, launching new projects, establishing an organization, optimizing operations and rebranding.

“Per and I have worked together for many, many years, which makes it very comfortable for me to hand over the keys to our new company to him. The separation of Zleep Hotels and Core Hospitality is completely undramatic, but due to our new co-owner of Zleep Hotels, it makes sense to keep the two apart even though we will continue to have a close working relationship. And because I will stay on as chairman of the board, Per and I will continue the great collaboration,” says Peter Haaber, owner and chairman of the board at Core Hospitality.
