New deluxe hotel unit and spa center outside Athens

After an investment of some 8.5 billion drachmas (26 million Ecus), the Athens-based Divani<.> hotel group opened its newest deluxe hotel, the five-star Divani Apollon Palace, at the Kavouri area just outside Athens. The new unit is the group`s seventh hotel.
The hotel was purchased by the group last November for 5.5 billion drachmas. Since then, another 3.0 billion has been spent on radical renovations. And another 2.0 billion is being spent to complete the unit`s Natural Health Center that includes a unique thalassatherapy center.
Presently, along with 286 rooms with private terrace and with seven up-market suites, the Divani Apollon Palace sports four multi-use conference halls that can seat up to 1,500. It also houses the Mythos of the Seas, which promises to be one of the Attica area`s most superb restaurants.
With the new Apollon, the group boasts 3,000 beds, of which 75% are in three five-star hotel units within the Athens area. Spyros Divanis, the group`s managing director, says he is on the lookout to purchase additional units in the Athens area and may even get into the construction business and build new units. The group plans on entering the Athens bourse within the next two years.
