Ovolo launches flagship hotel in West Kowloon

Ovolo Group, Hong Kong’s largest independent serviced apartment operator, is delighted to announce the opening of its flagship hotel, Ovolo 256 Tung Chau Street in West Kowloon. The all-inclusive all-suite business hotel featuring 63 two- and three- bedroom luxury suites has all the meticulous hallmarks of the Ovolo lifestyle. This latest property not only marks Ovolo’s entry into hotels, it is also the Group’s first property in Kowloon.

“256 Tung Chau Street represents a modern, clean business hotel with all the services and luxuries the modern traveler requires. It sits well with our other properties, with strong similarities in design and space,” says Ovolo Managing Director Girish Jhunjhnuwala.

The all-suite hotel offers spacious accommodation. The two-bedroom, 500-sq ft apartments and three-bedroom, 700-sq ft apartments all have large living rooms complete with bright and airy windows, panoramic harbour or city views as well as sleek and modern styling for the best in city living.

“We maximized ceiling heights and wherever possible we’ve perforated the walls to allow in more light and connection with the outside, with larger windows, lowered window sills and no balustrading,” says Paul Kember, director of award-winning architect and design company KplusK Associates.

Living rooms are prioritized to create maximum space for guests to relax and socialise, while ‘three-point’ bathrooms allow up to three people to use different facilities at the same time.

The suites also offer all the luxury amenities synonymous with the Ovolo brand, including state-of-the-art technology and communications, extensive concierge services and home style, eco-friendly comfort.

Guests at Ovolo 256 Tung Chau Street will enjoy complimentary breakfast and Happy Hour drinks every day in the 1/F lounge as well as exclusive use of a fully equipped 24-hour in-house gym.

The all-inclusive concept will make the property more like a home than a standard cookie-cutter hotel, according to Heddy Li, Ovolo’s Executive Director.

“We offer a healthy breakfast in the mornings, and afterwards the lounge turns into a food & drink bar allowing guests to have their sodas, snacks, coffees & teas, throughout the day with no additional charge. In the evenings there is a happy hour for the guests, allowing them to have complimentary drinks of their choice,” she says.

Ovolo already has 245 apartments in six properties on Hong Kong Island, but this new venture marks a strategic expansion across Victoria Harbour into Kowloon by offering Suite Living for the Other Side.

West Kowloon is an emerging metropolis in the midst of a dramatic transformation that will establish it as a major travel gateway for Hong Kong as well as the city’s premier cultural hub.

It is the site of the terminus for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, due to open in 2015, which will slash cross-boundary travel times and feed into China’s High-Speed Rail Network.

The first phase of the HK$21 billion West Kowloon Cultural District, featuring museums, galleries and performance venues, is also scheduled for completion in 2015.

In addition, the area is renowned for its lively street markets selling an almost unimaginable variety of goods, plus colourful Chinese temples, public gardens and other sites of cultural and tourism interest.

Ovolo 256 Tung Chau Street is conveniently located just a 6-minute walk from the Sham Shui Po MTR Station, 7 minutes from Nam Cheong MTR Station, 17 minutes by taxi from Central, while ICC/Elements is just a 4-minute taxi ride away.
