The AthensWas is the new luxury design hotel of the Anemi Hotels Groups

The AthensWas is a member of the Design Hotels and was designed according to the basic principles of classic modernism. The clean lines, simple structures and natural materials – mainly Greek marble and wood – determine the aesthetics of the rooms and public areas.

Last month, the visitors taking a springtime walk in Athens, particularly in the popular pedestrian precinct Dionysiou Areopagitou, came across a pleasant surprise. A brand new, modern hotel had just opened at number 5 and aims to enchant those visiting the city and wishing to stay right in its heart, a breath away from the Odeon of Herod Atticus, the sacred rock and the Acropolis Museum.

The AthensWas is the new luxury design hotel of the Anemi Hotels Groups, inaugurated on April 1st, aspiring to make its guests’ stay a unique experience, with discreet luxury and true pleasures.

The AthensWas attracts all those who want to actually experience the quiet and attractive part of Athens. The location of Dionysiou Areopagitou is ideal. This is where the heart of the city, from the ancient times to today, has been beating, where all the friends of its long history gather, and where the most beautiful ride begins. The AthensWas is a hotel with a distinct philosophy that lives in the city’s history and draws inspiration from the surrounding environment, combining the monumental and modern character. At the same time, the hotel itself represents the most modern and international face of Athens, which looks to the future with optimism.

The AthensWas is a member of the Design Hotels and was designed according to the basic principles of classic modernism. The clean lines, simple structures and natural materials – mainly Greek marble and wood – determine the aesthetics of the rooms and public areas. However, the final sensation that is created slips gracefully from the pole of grandeur to enjoy the luxury of light and joyful elements. As a result, the visitor feels familiar and intimate with all the areas of the hotel, from the very first moment and this fact guarantees rest and relaxation.

All the hotel rooms have a terrace, which enables the guests to enjoy one of the most important aspects of Athenian life, the pleasure of relaxing in an open area.

The AthensWas features a rooftop bar and a restaurant with breathtaking views of the Acropolis, the Lycabettus Hill and the rest of the city, the mountains surrounding it, the horizon and even the sea in the south. The MODERN restaurant, – the restaurant in the AthensWas – suggests a different, modern and light approach to Greek cuisine.

AthensWas: Its philosophy … calmness reflected in the design of the hotel and not only! Indoor and outdoor harmony the visitors can enjoy wherever they look …

Designed by the famous Greek design office STAGEDESIGNOFFICE, the rooms, the suites and all the interiors of the hotel AthensWas are characterized by a clear, bright and purposeful aesthetic that captivates the visitor with its undeniable cohesion and subtle commitment to luxury.

The Greek marbles in striking unexpected shades and the Greek walnut wood prevail all around the place. In the rooms and suites, furniture usually described today as the «modern classics», such as the LC3 armchair designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, the famous divan of Eileen Gray (1925), or the stunning seating table designed by Warren Platner 1966, are perfectly combined with more modern creations of international design, adding a vivid element that surprises and impresses the guest.

And none of these would be harmonious and complete without the presence of nature. For the AthensWas, like all the Athenians and visitors to the city, “life on the terrace” is important. All the rooms have balconies with wonderful natural ‘curtains’ of jasmine, wisteria and other climbing plants of the Greek flora. The scenery is completed with gorgeous, tall and bushy trees at the beginning of Dionysiou Areopagitou resembling a “stage curtain ‘, creating the most welcoming cooling microclimate directly in front of the location of the hotel.

The AthensWas is the hotel everyone will remember. It’s where one can admire the most beautiful view across the globe, this of the Parthenon, it is the last stop for the audience of the Herodion performances for a cocktail, the ideal choice for a great meal, but above all the beginning of the ride in the most famous neighborhood of the planet.

The AthensWas includes 21 rooms, 8 of them in the category of classic rooms, 4 deluxe rooms, 1 superior deluxe room and 8 suites with separate privileges each. A modern and elegant conference / meeting room with a capacity of 20 people is housed in the building. Finally, it features a Fitness Corner

The AthensWas is a member of the Group Αnemi Hotels already presenting a 5-star hotel in Folegandros, the ANEMI hotel (Design Hotels). The first hotel was established in 2007 followed by the AthensWas in April 2015. The Αnemi Hotels belong to the “Epilogi Ktirion – K. Mpenakopoulos SA” company operating for 45 years in the construction and operation of luxury real estate and is run today by Mrs Errika Benakopoulou, civil engineer. In the last decade the company, with the creation of Anemi Hotels, has expanded its activities in the hotel industry by signing the design, construction and operation of two hotels.
