Voulgaris Hospitality Group takes the lead in sustainable tourism as a participant in groundbreaking UNWTO and Oxford University study

During the pilot phase of the study, which took place from June to July 2023, key stakeholders of its three resorts worked closely with esteemed researchers from Oxford University and collaborated with industry experts to refine and implement the ESG framework.

Voulgaris Hospitality Group, announce its active participation in a groundbreaking study conducted by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in collaboration with Oxford University. This study aims to develop a harmonized Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework for tourism businesses, with the goal of promoting sustainable practices and driving positive change within the industry.

As a participant in this esteemed study, our Group represented by its three renowned resorts in Corfu, Greece – Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa, Aeolos Beach Resort, and The Olivar Suites– has showcased its unwavering commitment to sustainable tourism and its proactive approach to shaping the future of the industry. By actively contributing to the development of a standardized ESG framework, our group seeks to enhance its environmental stewardship, foster socio-cultural authenticity, ensure economic viability, and reduce poverty in host communities.

During the pilot phase of the study, which took place from June to July 2023, key stakeholders of its three resorts worked closely with esteemed researchers from Oxford University and collaborated with industry experts to refine and implement the ESG framework. This participation has allowed the group to gain valuable insights, expand its knowledge base, and strengthen its capabilities in ESG reporting and sustainable practices.

The resorts will actively contribute to industry forums and share best practices with its travel agent partners, encouraging wider adoption of sustainable tourism practices.
