Wizz Air launched operations to Pulkovo Saint Petersburg Airport

BUD-LED flights will be performed twice a week, with the frequency increasing to 4 times a week by May 2018.

From the 27th of August until the 25th of October, the flights will leave from the Northern capital of Russia for the capital of Hungary on Sundays and Wednesdays.

On 27 August 2017, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe Wizz Air launched scheduled service from Budapest (Hungary) to Saint Petersburg (Russia). The first flight was traditionally greeted at Pulkovo airport with a water cannon salute from the airport firetrucks.

Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and a greatly desired destination among St. Petersburg passengers. We are certain that the new direct air connection between the two cities and the high-quality and attractive product offered by Wizz Air will be in demand among tourists as well as business travelers from both sides,” noted Evgeniy Iliyn, chief commercial officer of Northern Capital Gateway LLC, managing company of Pulkovo Airport.

From the 27th of August until the 25th of October, the flights will leave from the Northern capital of Russia for the capital of Hungary on Sundays and Wednesdays. Starting with the IATA Winter 2017/2018 season, the frequency will increase to three operations a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), then in May 2018 – to four operations a week (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday). The service will be performed on on A320 aircraft accommodating up to 180 passengers. The lowest fare now on the route is 59.99 euro/one way with all taxes included and non-optional charges.

Established in 2003, today Wizz Air it operates a fleet of 81 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, and offers more than 500 routes from 28 bases, connecting 141 destinations across 42 countries.

Pulkovo St. Peterssburg Airport is the fourth airport in Russia in terms of passenger traffic. In the first 7 months of 2017, Pulkovo handled 9 million passengers, a number 25% higher than in the same period of 2016. Domestic traffic grew by 21% to 5,7 million passengers. International traffic increased by 33% and amounted to 3,3 million passengers
