airberlin continues to expand its codeshare agreement with the strategic partner Etihad Airways, and is now making codeshare flights to Vietnam available to its guests. Since the beginning of October, Etihad Airways has operated a daily non-stop service between its Abu Dhabi hub and its first Vietnamese destination, Ho Chi Minh City. airberlin places its ‘AB’ flight code on the new flight, meaning, guests can, for the very first time, book an airberlin ticket from points in Germany and Europe to Ho Chi Minh City.
Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer at airberlin, said: “The joint codeshare agreement between airberlin and Etihad Airways has shaped up very well for both companies and our combined travellers. Through the expansion of this agreement, airberlin guests can now fly daily from Berlin and Dusseldorf via Abu Dhabi to Ho Chi Minh City, from Frankfurt and Munich on codeshare services with Etihad Airways, and via numerous feeder flights from other cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Since the start of our stratetic partnership we have gradually increased the number of codeshare flights, meaning today we offer a combined network of almost 100 codeshare flights worldwide. More than 300,000 flight guests have been travelling on our joint route networks in 2012 and our goal for 2013 is to increase this figure even further.”
