airberlin lands in the heart of Berlin

airberlin lounge opens in "QII0 – Die Deutsche Bank der Zukunft".

From June to August 2015, the cafe in “QII0 – Die Deutsche Bank der Zukunft” in Berlin’s Friedrichstrasse is being transformed into an airberlin lounge. Deutsche Bank visitors can immerse themselves in the world of airberlin products and enjoy a lunch of airberlin currywurst or gourmet Sansibar Business Class dishes, which are otherwise solely and exclusively available on board.

“QII0 is a wonderful stage in the heart of Berlin which accurately reflects the spirit of airberlin. For three months, Berlin’s residents and visitors to the city now have the opportunity to experience our Business Class meals and other airberlin specialities”, said Stefan Pichler, Chief Executive Officer of airberlin, at yesterday’s opening.

Together with Nadin Chucher, Manager of QII0, Stefan Pichler welcomed the first guests to the airberlin lounge and presented the concept of the collaboration.

“We’re delighted to have airberlin as co-hosts in the QII0 lounge. At QII0, visitors can do their banking, as well as learn about new ways of banking and give their ideas and opinions about these. The staff at QII0 speak several languages, because every day we’re visited by people from all over the world. Thanks to airberlin’s involvement, we’ll be even more international in the coming months”, said Nadin Chucher, Manager of QII0.

Until the end of August, visitors will have the opportunity to discover and try out the world of airberlin products every weekday from 10 am in QII0. Every month, “Experience Week” will focus on a special airberlin product. In June for example, this is the Business Class seat.

Several thousand people visit the Deutsche Bank branch every week, of which 40-50 use the lounge every day, where they can now try the Sansibar gourmet food, for which airberlin received the prestigious Mercury Award. Since 2007, airberlin has offered high-quality gourmet menus and snacks from Sylt-based Sansibar on board its flights, and also serves exclusive Sansibar menu creations in Business Class. airberlin’s best-selling in-flight meal is its popular currywurst, with over 150,000 portions sold each year. It can also be spontaneously purchased on board flights of over 90 minutes. A large selection of Sansibar gourmet menus can be ordered in advance on the Internet at airberlin.com, from the Service Center on +49 (0)30/ 3434 3434 (local rates apply) and via a travel agent. Those wanting to experience the Sansibar meals in-flight, can book their next flight directly at the airberlin terminal in QII0.

airberlin now offers more flights to the US from Berlin
This winter, airberlin will fly its passengers non-stop from Berlin to Florida. The first winter flight to Miami will take off from Berlin-Tegel on 5 November. Every Thursday and Saturday, airberlin will fly an A330-200 Airbus to Florida. “For Berlin residents, in particular, Miami is a leading long-haul destination. We’ve therefore adjusted our schedule for the coming winter. Together with our daily service from Dusseldorf, we now offer an ideal range of flights to Miami!”, said Stefan Pichler.

airberlin is also expanding its existing US services from Berlin this winter: airberlin will fly to Chicago every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday this winter, once more than last year. The number of flights to New York (JFK) from Berlin will also be expanded this winter, with two additional services. This winter, airberlin will therefore offer daily service to the Big Apple for the first time.

“In Dusseldorf, we’re already the number one when it comes to flights to North America. And now we’re also improving our performance in Berlin-Tegel, with a constant number of flights. The US is an important part of our network strategy. Within the United States, our passengers can access excellent connecting services with our codeshare partner, American Airlines”, said Pichler.

airberlin operates daily service from Dusseldorf to Miami and New York and three flights a week to Fort Myers. There are connecting flights available from many airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. All US flights can be booked online at airberlin.com, 24/7 via the Service Center on +49 (0)30 3434 3434 (local rates apply) or via a travel agent.
