Visitor arrivals to Singapore reach 947,000 in September 2010

Visitor arrivals to Singapore registered 18.4% growth to reach 947,000 in September 2010, the highest number of arrivals received in the month of September. This also marks the tenth consecutive month of record visitor arrivals. Visitor arrivals to Singapore registered 18.4% growth to reach 947,000 in September 2010, the highest number of arrivals received in the month of September. This also marks the tenth consecutive month of record visitor arrivals.

This month’s visitor arrivals can be partly attributed to the hosting of the FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, the world’s only FORMULA ONE night race and the draw of the many leisure and entertainment events under the Grand Prix Season Singapore 2010.

Visitor days were estimated at 3.8 million days, a year-on-year growth of 17.5% in comparison with September 2009.

Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, P R China, and India were Singapore’s top five visitor-generating markets Indonesia (244,000), Malaysia (95,000), Australia (80,000), P R China (74,000) and India (55,000) were Singapore’s top five visitor-generating markets in September 2010. These markets accounted for 58% of total visitor arrivals for the month. 12 out of the top 15 markets registered positive year-on-year growth in September this year. In September 2010, South Korea (+63.2%), Malaysia (+40.2%), and Vietnam (+38.9%) registered their highest growth out of the top 15 markets.
