Recent data released by Holiday Hypermarket reveals that there has been a 62% increase in Britons booking Jamaican holidays in 2015, with the largest increase coming from the London area.
This is in line with a recent statement by the Jamaica Tourist Board, stating that there has been 5.5% uplift in visits to the island between January and September 2015, with a notable increase in visitors from Britain.
The figures go hand-in-hand with increased financial prosperity and economic deflation in the UK, which means holidaymakers have more money to spend on their next holiday. Once-in-a-lifetime destinations are now becoming more attainable for Britons, as they seek a guaranteed sunshine all year round. The effect has been compounded by recent unrest in Egypt and Tunisia, with travellers prepared to go further afield in search of good weather.

Spanish hotel chain H10 is projected to inject US$200m into the economy, as it constructs two new hotels on the island in coming years. Longstanding resorts are also renovating and refurbishing their accommodation to meet with growing demand for quality hotels.
Jamaica has also secured more flights into the island for both winter 2015 and summer 2016, which amounts to 60,000 more passengers arriving in the country this winter alone.
Holiday Hypermarket’s Ian Crawford commented: “With so much investment in the island’s tourism industry, along with increased flights and growing prosperity, it’s not hard to see why Jamaica is an increasingly popular destination for Brits.
“We’ve seen the biggest uplift in travellers using London airports to get to the Caribbean island, which may be down to economic recovery being most keenly felt in London. The effects of both financial recovery and deflation are leaving people with more money in their pockets at the end of the month.”
