CCA wins new five-year advertising contract with the Norfolk International Airport

State-of-the art digital advertising technology to give Hampton Roads area businesses a new, dynamic way to reach millions of travelers.

NEW YORK –  Clear Channel Airports (CCA) announced the signing of a new five-year contract with the Norfolk International Airport (ORF) that promises to bring technologically advanced digital advertising opportunities to Hampton Roads area businesses and increase revenue opportunities for the Norfolk Airport Authority. The new advertising program will provide advertisers innovative ways to promote their businesses and engage the 3.4 million passengers travelling through the airport annually.

“In addition to marrying aesthetic integration and local awareness, the new project will generate revenue that will help us continue to improve the passenger experience at Norfolk International Airport,” said Wayne Shank, executive director of Norfolk International Airport. “We look forward to continuing the successful partnership between the Airport Authority and Clear Channel Communications as we leverage digital technology to unveil state-of-the-art advertising options at our airport.”

Coinciding with ORF’s capital improvement project, CCA will implement a dynamic redevelopment project incorporating the latest in digital technology to connect advertisers and air travelers, including the installment of industry leading 70′ and 80″ LCD display screens. CCA will also install digital touch screen kiosks, an LCD Video Wall, Tension Fabric Displays and facilitate the adoption of the FlySmart 2.0 mobile phone application to ensure that advertisers have multiple opportunities to connect with on the go consumers.

Passengers will benefit from the new technology, as they will be able to use the recently updated FlySmart 2.0 mobile application to look up with flight status, gate location, baggage claim, current weather conditions, nearby concessions, parking availability, security wait time and ground transportation options via their mobile phones.

“We are excited about the new five-year deal, as well as the opportunity to build on our strong relationship with the Norfolk International Airport,” said Toby Sturek, president, Clear Channel Airports. “Our next-generation digital advertising program will enable the thriving businesses of the region to engage millions of travelers in innovative and dynamic ways.”
