Puebla launches campaign to attract US tourists

The Government of Puebla announced a campaign to invite US tourists to visit Mexico during the 150 anniversary of the Battle of Puebla.

With the slogan "5 de Mayo, Celebrate in Puebla" government officials want to inspire visitors to explore a wide variety of offerings that have long made Puebla a year round top foreign Mexican tourist destination. Puebla is very accessible from Mexico City and has various direct flights from the United States.

"Puebla is one of Mexico’s historical, cultural and culinary treasures, the place where corn or maize was first discovered, with a wealth of natural wonders and cultural diversity, industry, and entertainment, it is simply a place that connects US history with Mexico’s history," said Eric Rojo, Washington DC Representative, 5 de Mayo Planning Committee.

Puebla has thousands of historic sites, from the Great Pyramid of Cholula, the largest man-made monument in the world, magnificent colonial churches, convents, libraries, museums, universities, antique shops, restaurants, pottery shops, and natural attractions.

As Mexico and the United States commemorate the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of the US Civil War and the French Intervention in Mexico. The Government of Puebla will also highlight and explore the history of the Battle of Puebla and the historic and political ramifications for both countries.  Its grand parade and the reenactment of the Battle will end the 5 de Mayo festivities.

"Presidents Lincoln and Juarez had a close personal relationship that was key to their eventual victories. Visit Puebla and relive the events that helped change our history.  Celebrate 5 de Mayo in Puebla and discover a world rich in history, culture, arts, food and much more,"
added Eric Rojo.
