Change of the watch for Cruise Whitsundays

Nick Hortle.

Russell Westmoreland will be joining Cruise Whitsundays for a hand over in late August as acting Managing Director until a permanent replacement is appointed.

There will soon be a changing of the watch at Cruise Whitsundays. Nick Hortle will be logging off as the Managing Director for the last time on Thursday 31 August.

Mr Hortle, who has been in the role since August 2013 will be moving back to Sydney to be with his family and take a well-earned break. But there is no doubt he will be a frequent return visitor and is more than likely to join the ranks of the smiling and contented passengers on our tours.

“One thing I will genuinely miss is looking out at the pontoon ramp at the end of each day and seeing a stream of happy holiday makers and other travellers coming off the boats with big smiles and an air of exhausted contentment. They have all had a fantastic day. And that’s been the result of an amazing team effort from everyone starting with the promise that Marketing & Sales has made followed by check-in and then the experience on the voyage itself on beautiful, safe and well maintained vessels crewed by the most turtley awesome people in the universe,” said Nick.

“We have incredibly passionate employees in the office and on the vessels and in the workshop, who strive to deliver outstanding experiences to our guests travelling with us on our Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beach cruises. It is our staff that create memorable experiences for our guests, and for that they should be extremely proud of their achievements,” Mr Hortle said.

“I would also like this opportunity to thank our island partners, in particular Glen Bourke from Hamilton Island, who has been exceptional in partnering with Cruise Whitsundays” Mr Hortle said.

Sales Manager of Cruise Whitsundays Lisa Bates has worked with Nick for the duration of his role said; “In the past four years Nick has transformed the business to become an innovative and progressive business in the Whitsundays. This is a true testament to him and his achievements. He has been an inspiring team leader and will be greatly missed across the team,” she said.

Russell Westmoreland will be joining Cruise Whitsundays for a hand over in late August as acting Managing Director until a permanent replacement is appointed.
