ANEK Lines has acquired another two modern vessels as part of the Greek shipping company’s investment strategy . Both from Japan, one vessel is seven years old and will begin carrying out itineraries next June while the second is three years old and is to begin operating within 2001. The purchase of these ships, which will be able to reach speeds of up to 25 and 27.5 knots respectively, follows the ordering of two vessels from Norways Fossen shipyards as well as the acquisition of the “Sophocles Venizelos”. The latest acquisitions will boost the firms fleet and further strengthen its position within the passenger shipping industry.
ANEK Lines has recently signed cooperation agreements with other leading Greek shipping firms such as NEL, DANE, Rethymniaki, LANE and GA Ferries.
ANEKs short-term strategy also includes plans to work with a major hydrofoil company operating in the Cyclades and Sporades.
